In this tapestry of singular voices, the UST Publishing House brings together celebrated writers who are no strangers to the solitary world of writing, and yet who are also thrust into a world wherein distancing has become the norm. Hear them answer questions that examine their craft, in practice, in process, and most hopefully, in persistence.
Paul Alcoseba Castillo is the author of the poetry collection Walang Iisang Salita (UST, 2018). He won First Place for Poetry in Filipino in the 2018 Palanca Awards and has also received honors from the Talaang Ginto and Maninging Miclat Awards.
Joselito D. De Los Reyes is a poet, fictionist, and essayist. Two of his books, Paubaya (2013) and Finding Teo: Tula/Talambuhay (2018), were published by the UST Publishing House. He is also a winner of the NCCA Writer’s Prize for Fiction, the National Book Awards for the Essay, and the Makata ng Taon from the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino.
Chuckberry J. Pascual has received the National Book Award for his fiction. Two of his books, Kumpisal: Mga Kuwento (2015) and Ang Tagalabas sa Panitikan (2018), were published by the UST Publishing House. He teaches Literature and Creative Writing at the UST Graduate School and the Faculty of Arts and Letters.
John Jack G. Wigley is the author of five books, three of which were published by the UST Publishing House: Falling into the Manhole (2012), Home of the Ashfall (2013), and Hantong: Mga Kuwento (2018). He won the Best Book (Gawad San Alberto Magno) in the 15th Dangal ng UST and was a finalist in the 13th Madrigal Gonzalez Best First Book Award.
Jose P. Mojica (moderator) is a Resident Fellow of the UST Center for Creative Writing and Literary Studies. His short films, Monique (2018) and E (2018), were screened at the Ika-30th Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Vidyo, where E was awarded an Honorable Mention. He teaches communication and media, literature, and film theory in the UST Faculty of Arts and Letters.
