In this multi-disciplinary panel including philosophy, medicine, and journalism, the UST Publishing House gathers distinguished experts to talk about what we need to know from their respective fields and how these diverse disciplines have been impacted by the pandemic.

Vergel O. Santos has been a journalist for more than 50 years; he has edited two daily newspapers. He is the author of Chino, His Life and Times, a biography of Joaquin P. Roces, the legendary newspaper publisher and patriot, and has published collections of essays on the news media and other subjects. He now writes sociopolitical commentary for the Manila-based online news site Rappler and contributes opinion to The New York Times.
Alice M. Sun-Cua, M.D., is a practicing obstetrician-gynecologist at the San Juan de Dios Hospital, Pasay City, where she finished her OB-GYN residency training. She obtained her M.D. degree from UST Manila and her MSc in Clinical Epidemiology from UP Manila. She has published several books, among them The Transient Years: Perimenopause in Filipino Women (University of San Agustin Publishing House, 2008). Dr. Sun-Cua is also a poet, travel narrative writer, literary translator, and tai-chi practitioner. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from DLSU Manila and lives in Pasay City with her husband, Alex.
Jove Jim Sanchez Aguas, PhD, is full professor of philosophy at the University of Santo Tomas (UST). Two of his books, "Person, Action and Love: The Philosophical Thoughts of Karol Wojtyla (John Paul II)" (2014) and "The Good and Happy Life: An Introduction to Ethical System and Theories" (2019), were published by the UST Publishing House. He is the Editor-in-chief of the Philosophia: International Journal of Philosophy, and the recipient of the Lifetime Service Award from the Philippine Dominican Center for Institutional Studies in 2018.
