Joy Jopson was born on November 3, 1950, to parents Cecilio Asuncion and Carmen Molina. She studied at San Francisco Elementary School, Sergio Osmeņa High School and St. Theresa's College. She is the widow of Edgar Jopson, with whom she has three children: Celnan, Ma. Victoria, and Teresa Lorena. And the widow of Romulo Kintanar, with whom she has a son, Romulo Gabriel. U.G. An Underground Tale: The Life and Struggle of Edgar Jopson tells the story of Edjop and Joy during the First Quarter Storm, martial law, and its aftermath.
